Latest News

We are delighted to announce that Coalville Public Radio will soon be available on DAB Digital Radio, making it even easier for people across North West Leicestershire and surrounding areas to tune in.

Don’t worry, we are not going anywhere. Coalville Public Radio will continue to be available online through our website, mobile devices, smart speakers, and streaming platforms. DAB simply gives listeners another way to enjoy the station.

Since launching in November 2024, our volunteers have worked hard to create a station that reflects our community, supports local organisations, promotes local events, and gives people the opportunity to get involved in broadcasting.

Being available on DAB means listeners will be able to tune in through DAB radios at home, in the workplace, and in their cars without needing to use a phone or internet connection. It removes barriers and makes local radio more accessible to more people.

This is an exciting step forward for the station and helps us reach new listeners whilst continuing to serve our existing audience. Whether you already listen online or discover us through DAB for the first time, our mission remains exactly the same: supporting our community and giving local people a voice.

The station is now operated by CPR CIC, a Community Interest Company established to secure the long term future of the service and ensure everything we do continues to benefit the community. CPR CIC was incorporated on 22 April 2026.

We have also secured the necessary Ofcom Digital Sound Programme Service licence, allowing Coalville Public Radio to broadcast on DAB when the local multiplex launches.

We would like to thank our volunteers, listeners, partners, supporters, and the wider community for helping us reach this milestone. We are looking forward to welcoming even more listeners as Coalville Public Radio becomes available on DAB Digital Radio.

More ways to listen. More local voices. The same community radio station.
