DJamie

Hi, I’m DJamie, a 12-year-old DJ from North West Leicestershire with a passion for music that knows no bounds. Despite being partially deaf from birth and living with mild autism, I’ve never let challenges hold me back. Instead, they’ve inspired me to approach music in unique and creative ways, proving that nothing can stop you from pursuing what you love. I’ve been learning to DJ for over two and a half years, building my skills and developing my own style. From Electro Disco and Vocal Deep House to Progressive House, Melodic Techno, and my personal favourite Liquid Drum & Bass every track I spin is a chance to tell a story and connect with others through music. One of my favourite things to do is create mashups, blending 2 or 3 tracks into something completely fresh and exciting. Whether it’s live on stage or at home experimenting with new sounds, I love pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Collecting music for the past two years has also been a big part of my journey, and I’ve had the privilege of performing live sets across North West Leicestershire, sharing my passion for dance music with local audiences. Being partially deaf has taught me to feel music in a deeper way, connecting to its rhythm and energy beyond sound. Living with mild autism has given me a unique perspective on creativity, helping me focus on the details and find joy in the process. Together, these experiences drive me to inspire others to embrace their own passions, no matter what challenges they face. So, join me on for fresh beats, epic mashups, and a story that proves music truly has no limits. This is just the beginning for DJamie, and I can’t wait to share the journey with you!

Jim Springthorpe

Hi, I’m Jim Springthorpe—born and bred in Coalville back in the 70s (exact year’s a mystery, just how I like it). Growing up in the 80s and clubbing through the 90s gave me a taste for music that covers just about everything. If it’s a party tune, you can bet it’ll find its way onto my show! I got my start in radio more than 20 years ago with my partner-in-crime, Dave Potter, over at Hospital Radio Fox. Since then, we’ve had stints on Ashby Radio and Hermitage FM, where we hit the FM waves with everything from drive-time to breakfast shows. During COVID, I even tried a solo session without Dave (don’t tell him, but he was missed). We’ve also dabbled in podcasting, with more American listeners than locals—go figure! When I’m not on the air, I’m out on the pitch as a football referee and cricket umpire here in Leicestershire, or coaching my son’s football team. I like to say, those who can’t play…ref, coach, or tell others what to do! Catch Dave and me every Saturday from 12 to 2 pm on for a show packed with party tunes, daft features, and plenty of laughs. Expect fun chats, the occasional guest, and a fair bit of taking the mickey out of each other—just the way weekends should be!

Harry Parsons

Hi, I’m Harry Parsons. My love for radio kicked off with Hermitage FM, where I hosted a weekly sports show a time I’ll always look back on fondly as it sparked my passion for broadcasting. Nowadays, you’ll find me playing a mix of music, mostly 70s and 80s hits, a soundtrack that’s been with me since childhood, thanks to my parents always having it on around the house. Outside the studio, I’m a big fan of non-league football, a passion that started when my Grandad took me to my first Coalville Town game. I’m also a lifelong Leicester City supporter, and when I’m not following football, I’m often creating short films with a few mates for YouTube another creative outlet I enjoy. I’m excited to be part of Coalville Public Radio (CPR), a community project that’s all about giving local people a voice and opening up opportunities in media, whether as a career or just a fun hobby. I can’t wait to connect with everyone, and hopefully, I’ll see you at one of our outside broadcasts!

Kenny Peters

a.k.a. Kuddly Ken Broadcast Veteran, Music Enthusiast, and Purveyor of Guilty Pleasures Hi, I’m Kenny Peters, but most people know me as Kuddly Ken! My radio journey started way back in the early ‘90s at Radio North Angus, where I was the PA to the main DJ (and tea-maker extraordinaire). That experience got me hooked on radio, even if I was once falsely accused of stealing a Michael Bolton CD don’t worry, I didn’t do it! From there, I found myself presenting shows at stations like Select 107 in Whitehaven, where I even did the dreaded 3-6 a.m. slot, talking to myself while the world slept! Over the years, I’ve bounced between holiday camps and local radio, but my love for playing the tunes people secretly adore has never faded. These days, I’m still on air, spinning those tracks you’d never admit to loving in public but can’t help turning up when no one’s looking. Radio’s been one wild ride, and I’m loving every minute of it!

Al Smart

Hi, I’m Al Smart, a retired BT Manager and Road Safety presenter (yes, those speed awareness courses!) based in North West Leicestershire. I’m happily married, and we share our home with a very opinionated black-and-white cat who graciously decided we were worthy of his companionship. My love for radio broadcasting started with a fascination for pirate radio stations—those daring operations on ships and abandoned wartime forts. In 2007, I turned that passion into action, volunteering as a presenter, engineer, and fundraiser with Carillon Radio, a hospital radio station. Back then, recording a show meant weekly trips to the Loughborough studios—a logistical challenge while juggling self-employment. With my engineering background and a dash of curiosity, I soon discovered I could record programmes from home, and I’ve been doing so ever since. After a few years at Carillon, I took a leap into internet radio, launching my signature show, Easy Sunday. It’s a mix of music from the 1950s to today, blended with fun features designed to entertain and uplift. Now, I’m thrilled to bring Easy Sunday to Coalville Public Radio, sharing timeless tracks and feel-good vibes to make your weekends brighter. So, tune in, sit back, and let’s take a musical journey through the decades together!

It’s this passion that inspired me to create , a show where I can share the music that moves me and the stories that bring it to life. When I’m not on the air, you’ll find me indulging in a few of my favourite pastimes. Whether it’s digging through my ever-growing record collection, driving my 1996 S&S Buick Victoria Hearse, or spending time with my furry family, I’m always chasing the next great story. Speaking of my cats, they keep life interesting—Stevie Ray, Miss Lou Ann Barton, Della, Kalamazoo, and the newest additions, Robert Johnson (RJ) and Frogger, are always by my side. Outside of music, I’m dedicated to making a difference through my work in organ and tissue donation, a cause close to my heart.
